This is just a guide for those who want to save a little
instead of taking the tuk tuk from immigration to the bus station
visitors will make their way to Chiang Mai
or to Chiang Rai.
I've read many suggesting to go to Chiang Rai
I've read many suggesting to go to Chiang Rai
then catch another bus to Chiang Mai
as this may be a shorter route as the total travelling time
is less than 5 hours
compared to the 5 and a half hours
from Chiang Khong to Chiang Mai
Whatever the case,
for those on foot,
as you approach the top of the slope from the immigration,
turn right and walk on
there will be signs indicating Chiang Khong town
Along this 15-20 minutes walk,
you'll come across interesting sights
such as the bicycle on the roof
But keep walking until you come across the 7 Eleven...
not not this one... but this is another 5 minutes away
so keep walking straight
until you pass the market,
and you will see this 7 Eleven on the right
If you can see the red bus there?
That's the one to catch to Chiang Rai
It's a steal for the 2 and half hour ride
costs only 65 baht!
For those trying to get to Chiang Mai direct,
they'll need to look out for the Green Bus
(how cute that the destination is colour co-ordinated)
This is the station at Chiang Rai,
but as you can see from the map below,
the green bus to Chiang Mai
can be found on the opposite side of the road in Chiang Khong
(you'll have to view the map upside down to be facing the right direction)
