A Green iGem

After an exhausting Saturday, I was wondering what Saturday would be like
It turns out to be pretty quiet even though I made my way to the iGem exhibition at KLCC]
It was as the sign says.. all about Eco conservation and green energy
so it was full of
some of course better than others...
and of course who doesn't wish for a greener world?
There were alternative sources of energy
and was supported by many big names
I had originally gone there to see the Eco Fashion show
but decided to give a rest from pretty faces for a change
so after a quiet day of wondering around
it was a time to charge up for the week ahead
all in all it was a welcoming change

Time to Xplay

woohoo! time to party... some more...
end of the year is really a full on party!
first was the Henessey Artistry, now we have Xplay shout!
all you need to do is register at the Xplay fb page...
see you there!

Saturday part 4:Flame ON!

To end the long day, I rushed from Mid Valley all the way to Ampang just to cover the ending of the 9 gods festival... After the 9 days ceremonies.. it culminates in a Fire walking ceremony... (can read about my early encounter here)

Arrived early to beat the crowd... and to try to get a photographer pass
so for that I had to go into the temple...
took a few shots of the interior along the way
And found out that there are monks who can go behind the interior curtain!
after getting my pass I soon discovered I wasted my time as the pass I wanted to look for is this colour
and not the girly pink that I got... uselessnya...
so I might as well be a girl
this is because girls are ying to the firey yang,
they are not allowed into the firewalking area...
geez, feel so emasculated..
well actually the pass came in useful to tie up a flag
that was blowing in the way of my sight :)

in the end I had to climb around the outside of the cage
with the smoke from the humongous jawsticks
So like the rest I had to stand outside and witness them piling out the charcoal...
and soon they were setting up the grounds...
not sure what they had to draw in the sand though
and soon they went about laying the groundwork
spreading and piling up the charcoal
and soon the got around to compacting the charcoal
After about 2 hours or so, they set it all aflame
The devotees came on in groups...
some even armed with their children
while others came with their idols
and soon the emperors..
All in all it was a good experience...
now I know what to expect if I go again next year
and that was the end of my long long Saturday....

Saturday part 3: Mid Wed

The long winded story about Saturday continues...
After the pre-wedding shoot in the morning, I dropped by MVEC to check out the Wedding Fair and whether it had any runway shows....
As expected it was a small wedding fair targeted really at couples getting married... as it should be I guess...
they had related stage shows such as bridal hair shows,
and first time I see a competition for couples...
guess it's a good idea since couples probably more sporting in their blissful pending nuptials
and of course no wedding fair would be complete without the wedding dresses
or the decoration
and this time round a Ferrari??...
the pull is that a few lucky customers will get to use the Ferrari as the wedding car...
odd but I'm sure some ppl would like that
But the best part of the afternoon for me was to meet tow gr8 people...
one is Eddy / Fizi who is a relatively new photographer..
always nice to have more kaki's.. :)
and this sweet girl... haven't seen her around before..
but little would I know that I would meet her again soon...
Anyway she was so sweet and friendly, that I'm sad that the photos don't do her justice..
anyway here's one more with her co-worker...
pity them have to walk around the MVEC hall carrying a sign..
tiring betul...
oh and next door was a chocolate fair but that was fairly disappointing...
Anyway next up... let's turn up the heat!

Saturday part 2: So New Hands

While waiting for the beautiful couple to arrive at Pavillion area, we stumbled across an event held by Subaru...

All they had to do was place their hands on the palm marks without letting go...
the top three get to go on to Singapore and do it all over again... but the winner will get to walk away with a new Subaru... not too bad for just standing around stuck to a car

They even had St John's ambulance present in the event the contestants couldn't stand the heat...
wonder how often they were needed in the past events?
And with any car event of course they had pretty lasses to attract the crowds...

Anyway didn't stick around for long as we finished shooting around Starhill and then we retired for the morning.. I on the other hand decided to drop by MV... why? find out in Part 3!...

Saturday part 1: Pre Wed shoot

In order to answer the questions in the previous post,
I've decided to break up the days into the events...

Friday night I get an SMS from EJ inviting me to drop by his pre-wedding shoot...
So come Saturday morning... an hour later than appointed.. (yes I'm not a morning person...)
I arrived at Lake Gardens...

as usual my gear went with me and managed to catch some shots here and there
After a few locations, we stopped for brunch
and even then we went to 2 stops...
the second of which was the LeVain Boulangerie Patisserie,
which I heard about but never got the chance to check out before this

I can see why so many urbanites enjoy the place as the smell is intoxicating
while the ambiance is calm and soothing
of course added to that the fact that it is known for its pastry

After the morning break,
the hunt continued for the next spot for the pre-wedding shots...
wanted to go to the abandoned house in Jalan Cochraine for its graffiti
but sadly that has been fenced off already
so the next near thing was BB area,
and eventually ended the morning at Starhill
All in all it was a long and tiring morning but a fun outing none the less
check out part 2: the so new hands
and more to come in part 3: the wedding daze

Other BolehBokeh moments
